Many of you know the circumstances that brought our family back to Lancaster. But I thought I'd take a moment and reflect on God's goodness to us in and through that experience. I hope your hearts are encouraged and your faith is built in the process...
Last spring my husband Piotr and I began yet again the process of praying about our desire to move back to Lancaster County. You see, we both have more or less grown up here, our families are nearby, and it has always been the place in which we've envisioned growing old. Since our marriage in June of 2000 however, we had grown to love living in Harford County, Maryland, and had established ourselves there very happily. Still, the desire to move back to PA seemed strong especially after a weekend spent with family. But you know how desires can be...sometimes so fickle and subjective. Thus, we prayed. And waited.
As June rolled around, the teaching positions my husband applied for seemed to be dwindling. Usually schools don't like to wait too long to hire, so when the end of the month was on the horizon we thought for sure God's message to us was, "not this year". And we were fine with that. Disappointed, but relieved as well. We really didn't want to leave, if that makes sense. Our first thought was, "but we'd hate to leave our church family."
Here's the short version of what happened next:
1. Pete was offered a job 2 hours after his interview on the 20th.
2. We put the house on the market on the 30th and left for a week's vacation.
3. The house sold and we bought another within 2 weeks time.
ISN'T GOD GOOD?! We continue to look back on those crazy busy weeks and marvel at His timing, provision, and grace. He has blessed us with a beautiful home that is cozy but not too small. We were able to pay off some debt and have some to save. We love our location--Pete has a 10 minute commute (through a covered bridge!!!) and we are within a half hour from most of our family. Pete's job in the Science department at Donegal High School has been different from what he was used to, but we can see clearly that it is God's good provision. And slowly but surely we are finding a new church family at Crossway (also a part of Sovereign Grace).
Finally, the other details of moving that are a fact of life, but can be worriesome are things like finding doctors and specialists...
We have been so SOOOO impressed with our new pediatrician, ob/gyn, and Natalia's cardiologist! Yeah! :-) She had another good report from her yearly visit in January and she did so well during the tests. No small order for an active 2 year old and a 2 hour-long appointment! Our favorite part of the day--when they said "see you in a year!"
In closing, I hope that whatever you're hoping and waiting for today will seem no bigger than our God. We see through a glass darkly...He sees all.
