After Effects

Ahhhh...so much better! This must be what it's like (though on a MUCH smaller scale) when those people go on Extreme Home Makeover and suddenly their living spaces are transformed.

I know I'm exaggerating just a bit...but the color of a room has that kind of effect on me. :o) I either want to breathe deeply or have the urge to hypervenilate. (I'm kidding, sort of.)

Now, tell me if this picture looks particularly restful to you.

That's to give you an idea of what our bedroom walls USED to look like with our decor. Lovely, right?

Here are the AFTER pictures:

This lovely "merlot" wall is awaiting a very special piece of artwork by my youngest brother Ryan. Since he paints far better than I and has actually BEEN to Italy--grrrr :o) --he was my first choice to paint us a 3-paneled Tuscany scene.

This little alcove is a lighter off-white color and will eventually be "separated" from the rest of the room by wine-colored floor length sheers on swinging arms. (An idea I stole from "Tropical Mexican.") This is because Pete is loosing his Study to Baby Adam come December, and since there is no other spot for him (Pete), AND we really don't want to see a desk/workspace as soon as we walk in our "place of rest", we had to figure something out.

And our living/dining room which USED to be peach (mind you they only did one coat so it looked really pretty) now looks like this:

I still need to find some short floating shelves to put on either side of my metal piece. That and finding some colorful candles/decorative boxes/vases to put on them. Hello Target! :o)

Love house projects! Looks great! I'll be posting picts soon of ours too, but wanted to wait until I had my photos up. I've been working on framing them.

Okay, I gotta say, I didn't think you bedroom color was THAT bad...it could be much worse than light blue....

That being said, your new colors look GREAT! I can't wait to see Ryan's work of art.

I love the new look - those colors give such warmth to the rooms. It sounds like you took advantage of Pete's final summer days to complete those projects around the home before your baby boy arrives!
