If You Were A Fly...

...on our wall, you'd have heard some humdingers from Natalia these past few weeks.

Some have called her witty...I'd have to agree, and add a few adjectives of my own. ;o)

But whatever adjectives you assign, they were good for a laugh. Mind you, some we tried to muffle and disguise as loud coughs and others necessitated correction.

Enjoy!

Natalia told me one day that the little piece of paper in her hand said, (as she moves her finger over the words) "kids should get everything they want."

Before we pray at dinnertime, Pete usually asks Natalia what she'd like to thank Jesus for. One night she said, "For this food, and...(sweeping her upturned hand across the table)... my people." (Guess I should have my people speak to her people! They sound important!)

When helping me bake one morning she said, "Mommy, it says next on the recipe that I should lick the batter.

We are still having potty training issues. Yes, it's been a loooooonnnnngggggg 6 months. The newest challenge has gone like this:

Natalia: "Mommy, mommy, mommy! I gotta' go potty!"

(We race to the bathroom only to have her come to a screeching halt just outside the door.)

Me: "Why are you stopping?"

Natalia: "I don't have to go...my sister does!"

Me: "Um, you don't have a sister. If you are pretending and either you or this imaginary sister has to REALLY go, we gotta', you know, GO...pronto!"

When we were unwrapping presents the other night, Pete asked Natalia if he could play with her new cash register.

She quickly retorted, "You got your sweater."

Me: "Natalia, are you excited to celebrate Jesus' birthday tomorrow?"

Natalia: "YEAH! But Mommy, he doesn't have a car!"

Me: "He doesn't need a car. He's with us all the time. We just can't see him."

Natalia: "I think he should take an airplane."

Krista,

I loved seeing the pictures on your smilebox and reading Natalia's witty sayings. She and Hannah MUST be related. We need to tackle the potty training thing again and I just don't want to go there!

We will miss seeing everyone next week. Sending our love!

She is too cute. Just imagine in another few years what she'll be saying!

The smile box was, indeed, wonderfully cute too. I bookmarked it so that I might do it next year. Meghan hasn't seen it yet...but she'll love pointing to Natalia and Adam, and maybe you. :)

LOL over here. Oh goodness, the funniest ones were the "my people" and the "you got your sweater" ones. I can just imagine it.

"Reading what it says on the paper" reminds me when Joel was about 3, he had sown some bad deeds and reaped a consequence of being banned from video games for a week. Well, about 2 days later we were at a Chinese restaurant where we each, in turn, read our fortune cookie messages. He pretended to read his, in a staccato way, finger over each word. "My fortune cookie says "you should let me back on the Xbox today."
