One Week Old

Adam's 1 week milestone was welcomed in earthshaking fashion!

Just after midnight this morning there was a 3.3 earthquake within 5 miles of our house. Both Pete and I were awake to take notice. The whole house shook and there was a loud boom-like thunder sound. Honestly though, our house in MD shook worse when the nearby military base would set things off over the Bay. Of course this comparison was followed by comments from my hubby on the nature of sound waves...that's my honey for ya! :o) Ever thinking of the science behind things.

We had a very relaxing Christmas Day at my parents house preceded by a short visit with Pete's mom and brother here on Christmas Eve. I personally felt so much more rested the morning of the 25th because our little man decided to sleep/feed a bit better. The two nights since have been even better. He's still more alert during the night, but is making that transition steadily. I find my mental faculties have improved too--surprise surprise--as he now is pretty much on a 2-3 hours schedule.

Things are SOOOOOO different this time around. I know some of it is just the plain and simple facts--Natalia came home from the hospital with her feeding schedule already established by the nurses, she ended up being formula fed for various reasons, AND I physically didn't recuperate for weeks after because we were traveling nearly every day.

What a blessing to have this sweet little one home already, to be feeling nearly back to my normal self, and to have my hubby home on Christmas break!

Here are a few pictures from yesterday and the big family gathering at my grandparent's house last night.

Awesome pictures!

Wow, that earthquake scared me like crazy. I most certainly was not thinking of how sound waves travel! Do you remember the one when you guys were at our house in East Petersburg on Easter 1984? That one was even more scary.

So it WAS an earthquake! After I got over the initial shock (and we checked to make sure the 3 boilers in the basement were intact!), I was wondering if that is what it was!! What a way to celebrate his 1st week! :)

I wasn't with you in 1984, but I remember that one, too - we were at church!

Anyway, I second "rebecca", keep those pictures coming!

Krista, so glad you've got Adam home and didn't have to go through everything you did with Natalia...although look at her now! You'd never believe she had such a rough start. Hope to see you guys soon.

Ooooh, he is just precious - what a handsome little man you've got on your hands!

I'm sure you won't forget this earthquake anytime soon... it will be quite a story to tell Adam someday.

Enjoy your Christmas break as a family of four!
